Dr. Matthew Sasaki
Assistant Professor
Matt joined the faculty at UMass Lowell in 2025. Prior to this, he completed his PhD at the University of Connecticut and was an NSF Ocean Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Vermont. He is an evolutionary ecologist interested in the interactions between organisms and their thermal environment. His work focuses on how acclimation and adaptation will affect population responses to climate change, integrating field observations and laboratory experiments, and drawing from physiological, ecological, and population genomic approaches.
